Tom's Stuck With Rodgers, But the Rest of the Roster Might Bail Him Out
Payback's a real thing in this rivalry. After Scott's Week 2 win, he got to hand-pick Tom's quarterback for the week — and he went with Aaron Rodgers, a name that's been more "future Hall of Famer reminiscing about it" than "current fantasy asset" for a while now. Tom didn't choose this (no one would). He is simply along for the ride. Let's see if the rest of the roster can cover for it.
Tom's Week 3 Lineup
QB Aaron Rodgers (Bengals @ Steelers), $5,000, facing the 15th-ranked defense. The punishment pick. Nothing more to say here — this one wasn't a choice.
RB Jahmyr Gibbs (Jets @ Lions), $8,800, facing the 3rd-ranked defense. The most expensive player in the entire lineup, and for good reason — elite volume, elite talent, tough matchup or not.
RB Kenneth Walker III (Chiefs @ Dolphins), $7,400, facing the 31st-ranked defense. A premium matchup to pair with Gibbs — this is the kind of smash-spot pricing that wins weeks.
WR Rashod Bateman (Ravens @ Cowboys), $4,700, facing the 16th-ranked defense. A value price with real recent-target relevance given everything going on in Baltimore's receiver room.
WR Deebo Samuel Sr. (Cardinals @ 49ers), $5,300, facing the 27th-ranked defense. A reasonable mid-tier piece in a favorable matchup.
WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Seahawks @ Commanders), $8,600, facing the 25th-ranked defense. The anchor of the whole build — he's been the best receiver in football through two weeks, and Tom's paying up accordingly.
TE Darren Waller (Panthers @ Browns), $3,400, facing the 11th-ranked defense. A cheap, speculative piece at a thin position.
FLEX Dalton Schultz (Texans @ Colts), $4,200, facing the 29th-ranked defense. A second tight end used in the flex — a real bet on a favorable matchup carrying more weight than positional convention.
DST Titans (Titans @ Giants), $2,400, facing a 3.5 FPPG allowed average. The clear streaming choice of the week.
Scott's Week 3 Lineup
QB Justin Herbert (Chargers @ Bills), $5,800, facing the 28th-ranked defense. A real, earned start — no punishment picks needed over here.
RB Jahmyr Gibbs (Jets @ Lions), $8,800, facing the 3rd-ranked defense. Same Gibbs, same price, same logic. Both managers agree he's the best back on the board this week.
RB Christian McCaffrey (Cardinals @ 49ers), $8,300, facing the 5th-ranked defense. A tougher matchup than Tom's RB2, but McCaffrey's talent level can override a lot of matchup concerns.
WR Ladd McConkey (Chargers @ Bills), $5,900, facing the 30th-ranked defense. A strong price-to-matchup fit.
WR Antonio Mitchell (Jets @ Lions), $4,300, facing the 31st-ranked defense. Cheap salary with a favorable matchup attached.
WR Jerry Williams (Jets @ Lions), $5,400, facing the 10th-ranked defense. The one real matchup risk in the receiver corps.
TE Oronde Gadsden II (Chargers @ Bills), $3,500, facing the 23rd-ranked defense. A speculative, inexpensive piece.
FLEX Dalton Kincaid (Chargers @ Bills), $5,500, facing the 25th-ranked defense. A tight end in the flex here too — both managers leaning on the same structural idea this week.
DST Titans (Titans @ Giants), $2,400, facing a 3.5 FPPG allowed average. Same defense, same logic, no separation here either.
Head-to-Head Record
Tom — 1 win
Scott — 1 win
The Wrap-Up
Both lineups actually overlap more than you'd expect — same RB1 in Gibbs, same DST in the Titans, and both leaning on a tight end in the flex spot. The real separation comes down to the quarterback spot, where Scott's legitimate Herbert start goes up against Tom's mandatory Rodgers experience, and the receiver corps, where JSN gives Tom a real ceiling play Scott doesn't have an answer for. Series tied 1-1 heading into this one — time to see if forced Rodgers duty is enough to sink an otherwise solid build.
